Transition into College

My first semester of college was a lot easier than I expected. I had to quickly adapt to the class hours and being responsible but after that I got the hang of it. I do agree with Hjortshoj that you have to be flexible and alert. In high school we are there from 8 am to 3 pm but in College your classes are more spread out and you have more freedom. I went to a strict private school and they did a really good job in preparing me for college. A lot of my classes were very tough and you had to learn how to get used to the deadlines for assignments. Here at Defiance College I used all of my resources available and that played a huge part in completing my first semester. Being a student athlete means that you have to work hard and use your time wisely.

During my first semester I took a class called FYE ( First Year Experience ) and in that class not only were we taught how to be successful our first year but also how to get comfortable writing and making good habits. I can connect my FYE class to the second chapter because it relates to how you can use those traits to become successful in writing. Having all of these traits makes you really take pride in your work. In this Composition class I can expect to learn more on being a better writer but also a better person. We all have our own traits and habits but when you are able to be creative and think outside the box is when you truly learn more and gain from it.
