In the short film by Virgin Mobile, it first starts off with a teenager and an older person standing in silence till the teen pulls out her phone to play music. Shortly after the older person pulls his phone and blasts his music. As the video goes on more people enter the elevator and start playing their own music till the final person comes in with a boombox and listens to his music through earbuds. There is a moment of Silence until elevator music starts playing. The only explanation for elevator music is to not create an awkward moment of silence. The ad was made to show how elevator music can connect us and encourage us to start a conversation and not make things awkward or obnoxious for the other.
